Primary Focus

The Application Developer (Microsoft Stack) is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing efficient, user-friendly, and scalable software applications. They collaborate with business groups to understand requirements, create technical specifications, and build customized software solutions for a variety of projects, including the standardization of Microsoft 365 apps, the Microsoft Power Platform, and Canada's Drug Agency project management tools. The developer also handles bug fixes, software updates, and the integration of new features.



What do the daily responsibilities look like?

On any given day, the Application Developer (Microsoft Stack) will:

design, code, document, and maintain software applications according to specifications and requirements in the Microsoft environment, using both the Power Platform environment (Power Automate, Dataverse) and C# model and design databases and data storage solutions using Transact-SQL and SQL Server create interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI to deliver valuable business insights and data visualization assist in development and maintenance of Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM using Power Automate, C#, and Dataverse model and design databases and data storage solutions using appropriate technology (e.g., SQL Server, SharePoint lists) build continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) solutions using Azure DevOps and configure database and application solutions in the Azure Environment create interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI to deliver valuable business insights and data visualization suggest, develop, and implement new features and functionality that improve application performance and user experience by collaborating with cross-functional teams collaborate with IT colleagues to integrate applications with other systems and databases (e.g., SharePoint, Dynamics 365, or third-party application programming interfaces [APIs]) develop and debug applications, resolve related technical issues, and provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing applications create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, code comments, and user guides follow trends in artificial intelligence and use new artificial intelligence tools and programs to enhance existing applications and build new ones.

The Application Developer (Microsoft Stack) will likely have:



a deep understanding of and hands-on experience with the Microsoft 365 product suite and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI) experience in database development and maintenance using Transact-SQL, SQL Server, and Dataverse expertise in creating reports and dashboards with Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and other data modelling techniques experience in configuring applications and databases in Microsoft Azure experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps knowledge of REST APIs and web services, and experience with JSON and XML data formats analytical, project management, and organizational skills that include using analysis to translate business requirements into system solutions the ability to interact and work effectively with employees, including end users and interested parties, to gather and clarify business requirements and translate them into system specifications the ability to adapt to new technology, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and prioritize and manage conflicting demands the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment, and have demonstrated a high degree of flexibility with strong interpersonal skills.
