Power Workers’ Union Hiring Hall Opportunity
The Power Workers’ Union Hiring Hall has opportunities available for Nuclear Security Officer/Nuclear Response Team Officers through the PWU Hiring Hall. The PWU supplies casual resources to Bruce Power to support their work programs. Information regarding the PWU Hiring Hall can be found at

Status: PWU Hiring Hall
Training – 40 hrs a week for first 6 weeks
Temporary Part-Time after training – 24 hrs a week
Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure compliance with Nuclear Security Regulations

  • Provide an armed patrol and tactical response capability, on a shift basis, at Bruce Power Nuclear Generating facilities

  • Conduct normal security activities as prescribed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety and Control Act and/or regulation in Bruce Power controlled areas

  • Provide security response capabilities to emergencies, contingency situations or breaches of security on or in relation to the protected and/or controlled areas using the correct application of the "Use of Force Continuum" on unarmed and armed intruders

  • Carry out normal and miscellaneous security investigations involving property, personnel, employment/employee screening, criminal or quasi criminal acts, damage claims

Education: Successful applicant(s) MUST provide copies of the following licenses/certificates/diplomas at the time of their online application:

  • Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent)

  • Minimum one-year college diploma in Law and Security, Criminology or Police Foundations

  • Military or policing experience with a minimum of 3 years practical experience will be considered equivalent to post-secondary education

  • CPR and First Aid Certificate (must be valid)

  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.

  • Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) – Restricted and Non-Restricted Considered an Asset

Experience:

  • Work experience of one year or more in a security related role is considered necessary to be successful in this position. Additional experience is preferred.

Selection Criteria:

  • Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience review per the above qualifications.

  • Successfully meet the standard for the fitness testing. The fitness test is based on the standard Ontario Police Fitness Award (OPFA) Pin Program. For more information regarding the test and scoring, please click the link for more details:

  • Written Aptitude Test

  • Virtual interview

  • Psychological test (written)

  • Psychological evaluation

  • Medical assessment performed by Bruce Power

  • Successfully complete a 10-year CSIS Security Clearance application
