ANTH 100 - Introduction to Anthropology



An introduction to the anthropological concept of culture, its uses in the explanation of human behaviour, and its impact on our understanding of human nature, language, and society. The course will explore cultural diversity through the comparative perspective that makes anthropology unique within the humanities and social sciences. It will also show how anthropologists analyse the connections between politics, economics, gender, kinship, and religion within particular cultures.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate must

hold a MA in Anthropology or a closely related field; have a record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level; have experience managing classroom and online technologies used by the University of Regina (including UR Courses [Moodle])

Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours
The instructor will deliver the course on campus face-to-face on Tuesdays and

Thursdays from 11:30-12:45. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per

week.
Course Modality On Campus, Face-to-Face Course Dates and Time Tuesdays, Thursdays - 11:30-12:45 Duration (if Term/Temporary) January 1 - April 30, 2026. Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
