POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager, Direct Fundraising Programs, the Annual Giving Officer, Fundraising Programs, executes on the research, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of a comprehensive, University-wide direct fundraising program that encompasses postal, email and social solicitation and stewardship. The incumbent also participates actively in the identification, recruitment and training of fundraising volunteers to manage crowdfunding campaigns in support of programs across the University. The incumbent will collaborate with a variety of UA, campus and volunteer partners to develop tailored solicitation and stewardship activities with the goal of increasing philanthropic revenue through the Annual Fund.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Fundraising ProgramIn collaboration with the Manager, Direct Fundraising Programs, develop and implement an annual postal, email and social fundraising and stewardship plan for The McGill Fund according to the Annual Giving planning calendar.
Collaborate with the Engagement Analytics team to use a data-driven approach to identifying target markets to increase Annual Fund donors and revenue.
Collaborate with AG team and Communications colleagues to develop and implement solicitation and stewardship materials that support the renewal, retention, and acquisition of annual fund donors, tailoring messages appropriate to each channel and targeted cohort.
Provide strategic insights and lend expertise in direct fundraising solicitations to ensure fundraising goals are met. Develop innovative strategies to grow the program, leveraging multi-channel efficiencies where possible.
Partner with AG colleagues on the development of a video-first engagement, stewardship and solicitation strategy that leverages current students to create meaningful and engaging content for alumni and donors across various fundraising channels.
Participate in the strategic implementation and ongoing support of donor journey mapping, establishing a compelling donor value proposition. Collaborate on defining and implementing multiple-message (drip) campaigns based on constituent behaviour.
Develop and implement an annual strategy for the creation of customized stewardship materials (print and digital) for all Annual Fund donors with an emphasis on growing the McGill Fund Leadership Circle, Leadership+ Circle, Loyalty Circle and monthly giving program, through active engagement and stewardship.
Volunteer Fundraising ProgramIn collaboration with AG, UA cohort and other campus partners, lead the identification, recruitment and training of volunteers and committees for crowdfunding campaigns; serve as a point-person throughout the lifecycle of crowdfunding campaigns.
Develop crowdfunding campaigns on the McGill Crowdfunding platform, keeping current campaigns up to date; collaborate with Communications colleagues to develop platform copy and social media content for these campaigns.
Participate in the integration and training of volunteers in the software and tools required in the execution of their volunteer fundraising roles.
GeneralParticipate in the research of best practices and remain current on trends, strategies, programs, and services offered by other institutions to help Annual Giving strategic planning efforts.
Represent the unit at internal and external meetings as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum education and experience:Undergraduate degree
Three (3) years related experience
Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:Development experience preferred with specific knowledge in direct fundraising or equivalent experience in direct (mail/email/social) marketing.
Experience a plus in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors.
Experience preferred in working with printing, mail house and social media advertising vendors.
Strong interpersonal communication skills (English and French, verbal and writing).
Strong organizational and planning skills for balancing multiple projects and tasks.
Strong analytical and technical aptitude with an attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability in a PC environment, proficient using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), client-server database software and sound knowledge of social media tools.
Ability to analyze and read data, determining and acting on trends.
