We’re currently seeking an experienced leader to fill the role of Animation Supervisor for upcoming series television productions.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute the creative direction set by the Director
  • Maintain the technical standards set by the CG Supervisor
  • Assign sequences to animation team and manage progress
  • Supervise the animation crews to deliver the expected and desired performance and footage
  • Ensure and maintain the quality, style, and continuity of animation across the show
  • Review the work of each animator on a regular basis and approve shots for submission to the director
  • Work with leads to conduct model and rig testing to ensure rigs are production ready
  • Work with leads to create show/ series specific cycles / poses
  • Work with leads to conduct a range of motion tests for all new character builds
  • Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders
  • Assist in the development of any specialized assets as needed
  • Work collaboratively as part of the senior production team
  • Complete assigned sequences within scheduled timeframe

HR/Recruitment:
  • Work with recruitment coordinator to ensure selected reels are reviewed, consult on the selection of candidates and take part in the interview process

Crew Management:
  • Train animation teams on an ongoing basis both technically and creatively
  • Communicate expectations to animation team while balancing creative desires with the requirements of production
  • Oversee the daily activities of the animation crew
  • Partners with Management to guide artists’ overall professional development, providing performance feedback, mentoring, assist with resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale amongst the crew

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong management, and organizational skills
  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Animator in the Animation Industry
  • Proficiency with standard industry software (eg. Maya)
  • Strong understanding of key-framed animation development processes, limitations and dependencies
  • Ability to interpret storyboards and realize them in a 3D environment
  • A strong understanding of basic human kinetics, and basic real world physics
  • Understanding of rigging and modeling
  • Thorough understanding of animation principles
  • Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling principles and techniques
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to effectively give direction and set priorities for themselves and others, as well as manage the progress of work
  • Proactive work ethic, capable problem solver with the ability to implement solutions
  • Be a positive and creative force on the team
  • Thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
