Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Shelter Attendant to join our team. The Shelter Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of animals within our facility while providing excellent care and support. This position requires a strong commitment to animal welfare, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with animals, particularly dogs and cats.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising. Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal living areas and shelter facilities. Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to staff. Assist with the intake and adoption process for animals, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately. Engage with visitors and potential adopters, providing information about available animals and shelter programs. Support educational initiatives by sharing knowledge about responsible pet ownership and animal care. Collaborate with team members to create a safe and welcoming environment for both animals and visitors.

Experience

Previous experience with animal care is preferred but not mandatory. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing high-quality care. Physical capability to perform tasks associated with animal handling and shelter maintenance.

Pay: From $15.65 per hour

Expected hours: 14 - 35 per week
