Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and the ability to provide high-quality care to a variety of animals. This role involves daily interaction with animals, ensuring their health and well-being, and supporting veterinary staff in various tasks.

Responsibilities

Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising. Maintain clean and safe living environments for all animals. Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff. Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team. Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with staff and clients. Participate in animal husbandry practices to promote overall health and well-being. Assist in laboratory tasks as needed, including sample collection and processing.

Skills

Previous kennel experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of animal husbandry practices. Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care is a plus. Familiarity with animal handling techniques, including dog handling and animal restraint. Ability to administer medications accurately and safely. Understanding of equine care is beneficial for candidates working with horses. Proficiency in veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and catheterization techniques is advantageous. Experience in a veterinary clinic or as a veterinary assistant is highly valued. Aseptic technique knowledge is important for maintaining hygiene standards.
