Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Animal Care Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the daily care of animals is carried out smoothly and to the highest welfare standards, while supporting and guiding the Animal Care Team under the direction of the Animal Care Team Lead.
Position Summary
The Animal Care Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the Animal Care Team, ensuring all tasks are completed according to established SOPs. This role focuses on staff support, task prioritization, animal enrichment, and operational organization. Working closely with the Animal Care Team Lead, the Coordinator enforces high standards of care, supports team performance, and ensures the health and well-being of animals in our facility.
Duties
Maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and treatment plans.
Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations related to animal care.
Train and mentor staff on proper animal handling techniques and care protocols.
Assist in the development of enrichment programs to promote the physical and mental well-being of animals.
Collaborate with other departments to facilitate educational programs regarding animal care and welfare

Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the daily care of animals, including feeding, cleaning, monitoring health and prioritizing of daily tasks
Provide real-time reminders, coaching, and feedback to staff
Monitor animal care, welfare, and enrichment to ensure proper exercise and stimulation.
Support on boarding and ongoing mentorship of Animal Care staff.
Provide hands-on support with animal care tasks during busy times or staff shortages.
Organize donations and manage supply inventory, vendor orders, and restocking.
Monitor and address safety concerns, ensuring appropriate follow-up and reporting.
Enforce SOPs and safety protocols with staff and volunteers.
Handling of cats and dogs of varying sizes, temperaments, and needs is required.
Qualifications
Previous supervisory or team lead experience is required.
Valid driver's license is required.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as required.
Previous experience in animal care or a related field is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of animal welfare standards, cleaning/sanitation protocols, and shelter operations is an asset.
Certification or coursework in animal welfare, animal behavior, or shelter management is an asset.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
Comfort addressing staff performance in a supportive but direct manner.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff, volunteers, and veterinary professionals.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks such as cleaning, bending, and restraining animals.
A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing high-quality care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
