As a member of our Electronics, Firmware team, we are developing mobile Android smartphone and tablet software to monitor and control our hardware products and working on new products and product refreshes.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Develop new products for world markets and refresh legacy Thermal Management products.
  • Participate in the full mobile software development lifecycle. This includes, but is not restricted to activities such as:
  • Refining smartphone and tablet software requirements with Product Management
  • Develop Android apps to monitor and control hardware, usually with Android Studio in Kotlin or Java
  • Implement user interfaces, and communication with hardware
  • Debugging software using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Participating in peer review of code for alignment to standard methodologies, bug detection and general improvement
  • Solving interaction of mobile software with firmware and hardware in conjunction with members of the Firmware, Hardware, Software, and Testing teams
  • Testing of code through unit tests, automated test systems and manual testing
  • Creating documentation for internal and external use.
  • Using tools like Git, Jira, Microsoft Teams to collaborate with fellow team members
  • Using and configuring build management tools to automate the build process
  • Assist in estimating work effort required for a given task
  • Encourage internal knowledge sharing through collaboration and seminars
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes
  • Adapt to working in a geographically dispersed and diverse development team
  • Use modern tools like JIRA, GitLab, Confluence, and IDEs
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 coding experience with mobile application development, ideally Android
  • Knowledge of Kotlin, Java, or a similar language for mobile development
  • Knowledge of Object Orientated programming is an asset
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of common scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Powershell)
  • Ideally, familiar with one or more of: Bluetooth, BLE, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP, TLS.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities
  • Knowledge of version control (e.g. Git/SVN/etc)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and electronic schematics
  • Motivated, energetic, a quick learner, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Has the ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
