We are recruiting for an Analyst/Associate to join the Food, Beverage and Household investment team in AE-NA.

The Active Equities North Americas Group ("AE-NAaEUR) within the Active Equities department invests in mid-large market capitalization public equities in North America. The strategy employs bottom-up and deep fundamental research insights to create a concentrated beta-neutral portfolio of high conviction long and short investments. The Food, Beverage & Household domain focuses on the food, non-alcoholic beverage & household products value chain, encompassing producers, distributors, grocers and restaurants.

Reporting to the Managing Director of the respective teams, the Analyst/Associate is responsible for conducting deep, bottom-up fundamental research on new investment ideas and current portfolio holdings. The positions are based in Toronto.

Position Requirements

Role specific accountabilities include:
  • Work directly with investment professionals on the Food, Beverage & Household team to evaluate potential investment opportunities
  • With guidance, execute investment research and analytics to provide recommendations leveraging domain expertise and deep fundamental research insights within the respective teams' investible universe. Develop detailed company financial models and perform valuation analysis, including DCF and comparable company analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
  • Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with their teams, including industry overviews, written investment memos and due diligence reviews
  • Research, analyze and monitor macro level industry trends and fundamental performance of existing portfolio holdings
  • Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts and analysts
  • Increasingly incorporate added research insights by leveraging alternative data sets
  • Collaborate with other Active Equities investment teams and other investment strategies in Active Equities global teams
Qualifications

If you possess the following, we'd like to hear from you:
  • The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of experience working in investment management (public equity or fixed income), equity research, private equity, investment banking or other similar experience
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree
  • Have a deep passion and interest in investing
  • Achieved high levels of academic performance and exhibit intellectual curiosity
  • Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, technical and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively
  • Core technical skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bloomberg, CapIQ
  • Advanced technical skills an asset: Python, SQL, exposure to Big Data workflows and analytic tools (Spark/Databricks, etc.)
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work
  • Ability to prioritize work and simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Keen interest in capital markets and the investment research process
