The Total Fund Management Department:
Total Fund Management (TFM) articulates CPP Investments\' investment objectives, designs and recommends the Investment Portfolios, and systematically deploys the balancing programs in order to manage Fund\'s exposures, leverage, and liquidity over all horizons. TFM is also responsible for management and execution of the Total Fund\'s financing, collateral and trading needs (excluding credit).

The Trading team oversees global trading and execution of all public assets (excluding credit) across all major markets on behalf of all investment departments and the Balancing Portfolio. Trading is organized into three teams: Equities, Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities (FICC) and Analytics

We are currently recruiting for the Trading group, for a twelve-month opportunity with a tentative start date between June and September 2024. Students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate co-op programs, or non-co-op programs and those pursuing their professional experience year (PEY) and individuals who have graduated in April 2023 or later from an undergraduate or advanced degree program in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance or Math are eligible to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support the Analytics team in the creation of proprietary analytics and tools to generate insights and actionable outcomes for trading. Work on a multidisciplinary team of traders, coders, and data scientists to apply varied skill sets to interesting research problems.

Other Responsibilities:

Working with the Trading team to deliver global world class execution using trading algorithms and bespoke transactions across many assets including Equities, Fixed Income, Currencies, Derivatives and Commodities.

Qualifications

Who We\'re Looking For
  • The ideal candidate is either i) enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate co-op program, ii) enrolled in a non-co-op program and pursuing a professional experience year (PEY), or iii) has graduated in August 2023 or later from an undergraduate or advanced degree program.
  • You are working towards a degree with a specialization in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • The team works in a dynamic interactive environment which requires the candidate to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates intuition, intellectual curiosity and scientific rigour, strong independent research skill.
  • Interest in finance/investment management.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Coding proficiency in R or Python, experience working with SQL.
  • Able to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and leverage data visualization to draw valid conclusions Candidates must exemplify CPP Investments\' guiding principles of high performance, integrity, and partnership.
