We are looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Accounting and Finance department in Calgary, Alberta.Under the direction and leadership of the Manager, Taxation you will be responsible for a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting, such as the preparation and review of income tax provisions, tax returns, elections and other filings.Always there. • Ensure compliance with all tax-related regulatory requirements, including income and commodity tax returns, withholding tax, elections and financial reporting
• Prepare tax provision working papers and assist with the preparation of variance analysis and consolidated financial statement notes
• Liaise with ATCO Finance personnel on tax-related matters, including monthly reporting, budget and planning
• Use research, interpretation, analytical and communication skills to assist the Tax Managers and Tax Director on various tax-related projects
• Communicate with internal and external auditors, including tax authorities
• Understand the impact on ATCO of new legislation on the corporation
• Assist with employment taxable benefit issues
• Update internal control documentation and help to manage relationships with the internal controls department
• Prepare and review accurate tax attribute calculations including cost bases, safe income, and surplus pools.

Who You Are:

• Bachelor of Business, Commerce, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Accounting designation with 2-3 years corporate income tax experience
• Enrolment in or desire to complete CPA Canada in-depth income tax courses
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with deadlines
• Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Experience with preparation of tax provision and tax returns (familiarity with TaxPrep tax return preparation software is beneficial).
