Research and Education (RE) provides high-quality, substantive and timely information,
research and analysis to parliamentary committees, individual senators and members of the

We are looking for candidates to staff current and future vacancies for the following
position: Analyst. Analysts work in multidisciplinary teams and provide parliamentarians
with non-partisan, authoritative and high-quality information, research and in-depth
analysis tailored to the needs of parliamentary committees and associations, and individual
parliamentarians.

acting, assignment, or secondment opportunities.
RAN-01 ($74,274 - $95,996)
RAN-02 ($90,741 - $117,270)
RAN-03 ($98,935 - $128,932)

Note: While this position is eligible for part-time telework, regular on-site presence is required at
Library of Parliament workplaces located in the National Capital Region.

LIBRARY OF PARLIAMENT
The following knowledge criteria will also be evaluated:

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Parliament, the federal government and current affairs
  • In-depth knowledge of Canada\'s public policies in one or more of the areas of federal
jurisdiction covered by RE, as outlined in the overview document
  • Knowledge of clear and concise writing, and sound research and analytical methods to
synthesize information and ensure it is non-partisan and relevant for readers
To be considered, candidates must have:
  • A Master\'s degree in a field related to the position OR a Master of Law degree OR
membership in good standing in a provincial or territorial law society OR a Bachelor\'s
degree in a field related to the position combined with a Bachelor of Law or Juris
Doctor degree
  • Experience in conducting research and analysis on issues relating to one or more
federal public policy areas, as outlined in the overview document
Assets:
  • Knowledge of or experience in applying Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus)
  • Experience producing visual elements, including statistical charts, that are informative
and add value
  • Experience working with datasets and quantitative research methods
  • Knowledge of issues that affect Indigenous peoples in Canada OR knowledge of
Indigenous legal traditions in Canada OR experience working with Indigenous
peoples in Canada.
Candidates retained in this selection process will be assessed through the following:
  • Cover letter: In your application, indicate how you meet each of the education
and experience requirements of the position within 1,200 words in English or
1,350 words in French. When preparing your cover letter, note that your research,
communication and attention to detail competencies will be evaluated, and will be
considered when decisions are made about screening you into the selection
process.
  • Second language evaluation: A minimum result of levels in your
second official language are required.
  • Interview and exam: An interview and a pre-interview written exam will consist
of behavioural, situational and knowledge-based questions that will allow the
interviewers to assess a variety of competencies.
  • For the purposes of this selection process, three separate competency profiles are
listed (RAN-01, RAN-02 or RAN-03).
  • Please note that candidates will be required to pass each stage in order to move to the

  • Satisfactory references, a successful pre-employment screening (i.e., security
clearance) and proof of education are essential conditions of appointment. Travel and
relocation expenses are the responsibility of the candidates.
