Why is this role important?**This posting may be used to fill both contract and permanent position with the Master and Reference Data teamThe Analyst is part of a matrix team responsible for CIHI's corporate master and reference data management and standards development. The Analyst will be responsible for performing operational activities to maintain and enhance CIHI's master data sources, planning and executing analyses, and collaborating with colleagues across the organization. The Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining knowledge of CIHI's data holdings, health master data assets, and corporate data standards.What you'll do1. Responsible for operational activities related to master and reference data maintenance/updates, including:
  • Conducts online and analytical investigations
  • Processes changes to keep CIHI's master data assets up to date
  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation of changes, including rationales
  • Performs ongoing data quality checks and maintenance
2. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to gather and investigate business and technical requirements and provide recommendations in alignment with CIHI standards.3. Creates and maintains documentation, including business rules, standard operating procedures, data dictionaries, implementation guides, training materials and other accompanying documentation.
4. Participates in the identification and resolution of issues to ensure effective operation, maintenance and standardized use.
5. Provides professional and timely client support to respond to internal and external client queries as required.
6. Assists with the development and delivery of presentations/education sessions.
7. Maintains detailed knowledge of data, tools, and analytical techniques used to produce standard and ad-hoc outputs.
8. Maintains current knowledge of CIHI's data holdings, trends in health services research and health policy, and stakeholder information needs to support current work and contribute to the development of new analytic proposals.
9. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI's privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in health information, engineering, computer science, statistics, or related field.
  • One to three years related experience working with relational databases / large datasets, including manipulating, maintaining and preparing data and presenting analyses and reports for different audiences.
  • One to three years of professionally related experience working with healthcare related information systems and standards is an asset.
  • Programming experience with data manipulation and statistical software in Python.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to excel in a matrix team environment while demonstrating initiative and ownership of work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of CIHI and CIHI data holdings and reporting is an asset.
  • Ability to meet occasional travel requirements.
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
