Analyst, Market Strategies

We are hiring an Analyst, Market Strategies.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Market Strategies the incumbent performs a variety of analytical functions to identify key demographic data, provide market analysis, create sales forecasts and design trade area maps to assist Real Estate and Business Development groups to plan future new, renovated and acquired stores.
Duties:
- Performs sales analysis and creates sales forecasts for potential and existing Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) stores.
- Research and track competition, perform analogue comparisons and store sales analysis to assess site characteristics and overall trade areas.
- Designs trade area maps for existing and potential SDM stores to assist in determining potential sales targets and store networks.
- Fulfills various request for information including extracting data from various databases and creating trade maps to develop site visit packages for Real Estate Directors and other department as requested.
- Updates critical information including, competition, residential growth, SDM stores and sales, hospitals, doctors, and census data to maintain and protect the integrity of databases.
- Maintains templates, creates shortcuts and makes adjustments to enhance and improve functionality on an ongoing basis.
- Creates presentation slides and maps to aid in communicating projects to senior leadership.
- Liaises with municipal and contracting planners to monitor respective regional growth areas, estimate future population growth and development and research potential commercial opportunities.
- Liaises with Real Estate Directors and provides input to determine overall strategy for site positioning.
- Develops market strategies for urban and rural market centers.
Skills and Experience:
- Post secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Bilingual is preferred
- Greater than 1 years of research/financial analysis or equivalent experience.
- Practical GIS experience required.
- Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.
- Provides routine information to coordinate the assignments and work procedures of others.
- Ability to pay close attention to details. Makes sure work is done correctly and thoroughly - keeps accurate records.
- Computer skills to produce effective reports, documents, and presentations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point
- Updates and maintains critical databases.
- Sound knowledge of analytical practices and procedures.
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with external contacts and colleagues including senior management.
- Draws on a number of known options to solve problems and to develop improvements.
- Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions.
- Able to work with diverse personalities and styles. Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
- Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required
