JOB SUMMARY



The Technology Security Branch is responsible for managing a comprehensive, corporate-wide technology security program that balances the need to protect the business with the need to run the business, and aligns with industry best practices. The Branch provides technology security expertise, ensures the identification, assessment and mitigation of technological threats, risks and vulnerabilities to the City's IT infrastructure, assets and electronic information, and oversees the resolution of any technology security incidents.
You are responsible for monitoring and reporting on corporate-wide activities that could/would impact the security of the organization's information and technology environment. You also participate in related investigations, and support IT security enhancements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



Completion of 3 year university degree or community college diploma in computer science or related field
Minimum of 5 years of information technology related experience including a minimum of 2 years information technology security experience

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES


Related Information/Technology Security certification is desirable (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, SABSA, CAP, EC-Council)

KNOWLEDGE


Basic security principles and best practices in a networking environment Security tools and solutions at both the client and enterprise levels Data security methods, access control systems, encryption and authentication tools Common network applications such as MS Exchange, Citrix, Right Fax, MS SMS tool Desktop operating systems - Microsoft Windows family Server operating systems - Microsoft Windows Server family, Solaris, Linux Mobile operating systems - Blackberry OS, Apple iOS, Google Android Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, HTTPS, IPSec, SSH Enterprise wide networking concepts and related security issues Public key infrastructures including X.500+ directories, administration and maintenance Intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions Security software reporting capabilities Forensic Tools such as Encase City services and applications dependent on the network Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
