The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an

Analyst I - Geological Technician

to join our

Exploration

team in Voisey's Bay Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

This permanent position will be working a 2 week on/2 week off rotation at the Voisey's Bay mine site.

As an Analyst I - Geological Technician, you will provide manual and technical assistance to senior personnel in the field, core facility, and the office environment. Your experience and skill will allow you to collect and process accurate geological and geophysical information using borehole and surface instruments, and by applying various sampling techniques.

Additionally, in this position you will:
Ensure role and responsibilities are carried out in a safe and productive manner aligned with Vale's HomeSafe program, HSE policies, and procedures; Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and provide guidance on best practices and procedures. Collect, process, and analyze Geophysical, Geotechnical and Geological exploration data/samples following established procedures that may involve operation of technical borehole or surface instrumentation and computer data entry or processing and logistics. Complete GPS and North-Seeking gyroscopic surveys. Complete QAQC on the processed data/samples for accuracy. Operate and assist in the basic maintenance of ancillary equipment (for example, core saw, rock saw, chainsaw, pumps, snow machines, UTV, trucks, forklifts, small motors, computers, computer peripherals, printers, etc.) Complete a variety of administrative/technical duties as requested by the Supervisor/Manager. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

Education:



College Diploma in (Geotechnical/Geological/Mining related field or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Experience:



A minimum of 2 years of geology related experience in a mining or exploration environment.

Skills:



Good understanding of modern mineral exploration and mining techniques. Ability to work effectively with various technologies including borehole and surface surveying tools. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Self-motivated, effective problem solving, and time management and prioritization skills. Flexible, meticulous and attention to detail. Must be capable of operating UTVs, snowmobile and pick-up trucks. Mechanical aptitude in maintaining field equipment is an asset. Proficient use of specialized software and techniques relating to the mineral exploration industry (i.e.: advanced drilling techniques, geological/mining/GIS software).
