Why this role is important?

Reporting to the Director, Healthcare Strategy & Innovation, the Analyst is responsible for analytics that drive the management and execution of the healthcare strategy for both Loblaw and Shoppers Drug Mart. The scope of the role encompasses the following broad functions: strategic analysis (including analytical modeling), opportunity/ market assessment, financial modeling, corporate development, and communications program development.

In this capacity the Analyst will support collaborations and create analytical models to assess opportunities and determine the impact of strategic partnerships and initiatives.

Duties:

  • Supports in the development of structured analyses, utilizing multiple data sources (primary and secondary), to assess and forecast opportunities to grow, augment or expand our healthcare businesses
  • Support cross-functional, enterprise-wide projects and initiatives, resolving issues as needed
  • Develop and refine use cases, opportunity assessments, financial models and other related business planning material
  • Collect and analyze data to support strategies and decision-making
  • Support development of personalized communication programs that accelerate the SDM Connected Health Network
  • Use superior PowerPoint and written communication skills to create presentations which captivate senior leadership and cross-functional team members
  • Participate in the analysis and negotiations surrounding strategic business initiatives
  • Become the subject matter expert in new areas of healthcare innovation, as well as relevant regulatory and industry developments
  • Responsible for the development and distribution of key reports (both ad hoc and regular) on a timely basis
Skills and Experience:
  • Requires a university degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or similar
  • 1-3 years analytical experience with exposure to a range of analytical techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills
  • Expert level Excel (SQL, Access and other relational databases is an asset)
  • Prior experience in coding is an asset
  • Must be able to develop business cases with accompanying investment metric models
  • Must be able to work with complex data sets to form analytic and reporting solutions
  • Ability to be proactive on deliverables
  • Ability to work within a dynamic rapidly growing and evolving environment
  • Ability to work with cross-functional departments to achieve business goals
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory frameworks / health ecosystem is an asset
