Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis



Reports To: Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis



Location: Central Office - Toronto, ON (four days mandatory in office)



Overview




Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the incumbent is responsible for analysis of a set of store expense accounts. The incumbent is responsible completing data/financial analyses & projections and interpreting the implications of these findings on the business. The person will also offer support to the stores and communicate with various internal departments.

Primary Responsibilities



Perform period-end close activities, including journal entries, analysis of expense accounts and concise variance explanations to support review of consolidated financial results Develop store level annual operating plan and ongoing forecasts to include current trends and expectations for major drivers Maintain strong relationships with stores and internal corporate stakeholders and provide support as necessary with interpreting financial results. Actively seek opportunities for process improvement & escalate high risk activity Develop and maintain reference documentation as necessary Support ad hoc projects and initiatives as required and be the first daily contact for any financial related issue

This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks and workload. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships.

Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze data to identify and quantify business opportunities/risks Must be able to provide sound analysis and comparisons with some guidance Attention to detail and an appreciation and acumen for placing/having thorough checks in place Business acumen - knowledge of accounting guidelines, principles and procedures Strong organizational skills and able to prioritize work with varying exceptions Communicates with clarity in one on one or group situations, and over the telephone/video calls Advanced Excel Skills & knowledge of MicroStrategy and/or SAP an asset Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn and contribute Team player with the ability to collaborate and share information while striving under pressure in a fast-paced high-performance culture Professional manner, tact and discretion in dealing with colleagues including senior management

Experience



Minimum 2 years of previous work experience within Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent preferred.

Education



University degree in Business or Accounting In the progress to or in the final stages of professional accounting designation would be asset.
