Summary

The Network Technology Services (NTS) Finance team is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to assume the role of Manager - SR&ED and NTS Finance.

In this role you will provide business and financial support for the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) team and support for project governance, evaluations and funding approvals. The SR&ED team prepares the annual SR&ED tax credit claim for Bell Canada and its subsidiaries. A highly motivated professional with a strong financial background and the ability to prioritize is required.

This position offers the opportunity to:

  • Broaden your scope of NTS, Bell Canada business units and affiliate operations Interface extensively with various groups and levels of management
  • Provide data and financial analysis to optimize the success of the business
  • Develop an understanding of SR&ED and the qualifed expenditures and involvement in preparing the tax claim
Key Responsibilities

The Manager - SR&ED and NTS Finance will report to the Senior Manager Finance and will be involved in activities including but not limited to the following:
  • Involvement in SR&ED studies and analyze project costs to ensure costs are eligible and supporting documentation exists
  • Participate in the preparation and reporting of the annual SR&ED claims, including documentation, completeness and accuracy in tight timeframes
  • Support and/or preparation of the annual Federal and Quebec Labor Unit Cost Rates
  • Provide documentation for Federal and Provincial audits
  • Work with project teams to understand SR&ED costs and provide support
  • Prepare quarterly continuity schedules and journal backup for SRED credits
  • Perform project validations by reconciling financials systems and identifying and inputting costs
  • Focus on process improvement and automation (identifying opportunities, gathering requirements and testing)
  • Support IT through the project approval and governance. Maintain a solid governance and control framework for planning, approving, and tracking capital and expense projects
  • Ensure funding approval requirements are adhered to, and all Corporate controls and governance requirements are met within area of responsibility
  • Completion of PEATS project approval tasks in a timely fashion ensuring all outstanding due diligence tasks are completed prior to weekly IPC reviews
  • PEATS & Capital Governance- provide ongoing support and guidance to Finance peers and IT teams on issues and processes
  • Provide support for ad hoc requests
Critical Qualifications
  • University degree in Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
  • General financial and accounting knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally with senior management
  • Ability to prioritize and to adapt to a complex and changing environment
  • In depth knowledge of MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Accounting Designation or working towards certification (CPA) is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Bell Canada, Bell Mobility and Bell Media financial systems
  • Knowledge of SAP
