In addition to our oil sands business, we have shale gas land in Northeast British Columbia, a power station in Balzac, Alberta, and interest in a wind farm in southern Alberta. Therefore, we are seeking an Analyst \xe2\x80\x93 Community Consultation to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. This dynamic role will be instrumental in working with key stakeholders in the Oil Sands business and HSE Team to deliver consultation and other community-based programs that enhance social license and corporate reputation in the region.

This role will require periodic business travel to the Long Lake Site in Fort McMurray.

Work schedule flexibility will be required as some events and meetings take place outside of regular office hours.

Your Background

As the successful candidate you will require seven years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working within a regulatory consultation environment, community development or community relations or consultation; Oil Sands experience is an asset.

Education preference is a bachelor\'s degree in social sciences, humanities or related field; however, equivalent experience may be substituted.

Beyond that, we are interested in hearing from candidates with the following:

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner and work effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and implement strategies and to manage projects and/or events.
  • Ability to work across cultures effectively.
  • Good Understanding of Aboriginal History and Rights.
  • Experience with the Alberta Aboriginal Consultation Office (ACO) guidelines and framework.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the regulatory framework and associated consultation process for an effective professional relationship with stakeholders.
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Point with experience with Benevity, Livelink, SAP, and Enablon being an asset.
Your Role with Our Team

Engagement and Consultation
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of CNOOC Oil Sands assets, operations and business plans.
  • Establish effective and positive working relationships with local community stakeholders, First Nation\xe2\x80\x99s and Metis communities and consultation staff and leadership, local trappers and non-governmental organizations.
  • Lead consultation and engagement meetings with nearby Indigenous communities, in partnership with key internal CNOOC experts across areas of the business to develop and execute regulatory consultation plans.
  • Work with internal units to align project management and schedules with regulatory consultation requirements, stakeholder commitments and agreements.
  • Respond to community questions, draft and manage correspondence to local community stakeholders, coordinate meetings and follow up with local stakeholders.
  • Recognize, communicate and help mitigate any potential concerns, issues or risks for community disruptions.
  • Document engagement activities in stakeholder database and prepare and submit regulatory consultation logs to ACO, AUC, BCER and other regulatory bodies.
Community Relations Support
  • Build CNOOC\xe2\x80\x99s reputation in the community by participating in CNOOC/CNOOC sponsored community events, conferences, and open houses. This includes events that facilitate employee engagement such as volunteering.
  • Support CNOOC\xe2\x80\x99s Supply Chain Management team by working together to ensure local and Indigenous businesses and contractors are included in supply chain processes.
  • Coordinate and develop presentations and briefing notes for internal/external clients, track and organize documents.
