The Opportunity
This role will be focused on portfolio analytics and reporting for senior management and mortgage investors for one of Canada's largest mortgage finance companies. This is an important function with a high degree of interaction throughout the firm and with external counterparties. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for a broad range of duties including: developing portfolio reporting and analytics, investor related projects, fulfilling requests for information and generating ad-hoc reports.
This exciting role provides exposure to the mortgage industry and fixed income markets. The successful candidate will work with various database management systems and gain expertise in analytical platforms. Within this role, you will be focused on supporting the portfolio management and Capital Market team, specifically enhancing the team's capabilities around data on its portfolios to support their database management and reporting analytics for stakeholders.
How you will contribute:
Support the development and maintenance of reports and analytical deliverables for senior management, investors, and other key stakeholder
Use SQL and related tools to extract, analyze, and interpret data to identify key trends and insights
Contribute to the design, enhancement, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
Assist with due diligence requests, audits, data calls, and other ad hoc information requests
Participate in special projects and analytical initiatives as assigned
Foster positive relationships with mortgage investors and internal/external partners
The experience you need:
Personal Skills: Detail-oriented, analytical, and self-motivated with strong communication and collaboration skills, maintaining a positive and solution-focused attitude in challenging projects
Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL and BI tools, with working knowledge of Python for data analysis
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the mortgage and mortgage finance sector is considered an asset
AI Skills: Proficient in leveraging generative AI tools to improve efficiency, streamline analysis, and support automation initiatives
1-2 years of experience in analytical or reporting roles preferred
Completed University degree in business, finance, math, computer science, statistics and/or engineering
Experience with treasury functions or mortgages a plus
Experience with First National systems an asset
Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:
Office environment
Periods of high volume with tight timelines
Long periods of stationary position/sitting
Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
