Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager, Treasury the Analyst, Business Planning Analysis ITM and Treasury\xe2\x80\x99s primary function is to provide Financial Reporting, and Analytical support for GTAA Finance and Treasury.
Key Accountabilities:

  • Leads the monthly, quarterly, and financial operating/capital budgets and monthly forecasts and the reconciliation process which includes performing financial variance analysis on operating and capital expenditures
  • Develops financial models to resolve the effect of various scenarios in the determination of impact, strategies, and business initiatives
  • Generate financial system reports and disseminates information to ITM/Corporate Senior Management
  • Conducts research, rationalize data and performs quantitative analysis on financial and operational data
  • Develops and recommends course of action based on financial analysis and results/variances
  • Develops departmental measures for performance and outcome-based business value including creating presentations, dashboards and reporting
  • Consults with senior management to solicit input to departmental financial planning
  • Receive, assess and input new investment trades into the GTAA\xe2\x80\x99s Treasury system (Wallstreet \xe2\x80\x9cTreasura\xe2\x80\x9d)
  • Analyze, follow-up and resolve any differences noted during the validation and reconciliation processes, report unresolved items to relevant partners and appropriate Treasury staff. Prepare and distribute related reports to relevant partners
  • Lead, initiate and accurately record debt transactions, letters of credit and borrowing notices (short-term overdrafts / loans and long-term bonds)
  • Key point of contact for Financial Systems, Treasura system/database, ensure the smooth and effective administration and maintenance, proper trading books and rule set in order to record investment transactions accurately to their respective accounts and locations for each reserve fund and resolve any issues during processing of financial transactions
  • Compile and analyze daily cash flow forecasting related financial information
  • Ensure timely creation and maintenance of various spreadsheets used by the department
  • On a rotational basis and during absences of the Manager, Treasury, prepare and analyze the daily cash flow forecast and make recommendations on potential investment and or borrowing opportunities
  • Ensure data integrity of the cash flow model and ensure that the financial model is performing accurately
  • Work on projects related to cash processing and their fit with treasury requirements of action based on completed financial analysis
  • Lead the electronic wire transfer process: records and bank transaction data, which includes investments, loans, and all types of payments, receipts
  • Generate and distribute a certificate of incumbency (list of signatories) to the financial institutions on an as needed basis to reflect current approvers
  • Ensure compliance with GTAA policies (banking, banking authorities, investment and other treasury related) and the Master Trust Indenture
  • Ensure all wire transfers and templates (new & updates) are accurately reflected in the cash management online system
  • Co-ordinate with the bank to implement new services or upgrades to the web-banking platform
  • Train and provide direction to new approvers or users when required
  • Maintain contact with all internal and external partners to ensure access to banking systems, data and merchant account activity
  • Act as a primary day-to-day contact for inquiries and coordination regarding cases of possible cheque fraud against the GTAA
  • Maintain strong working relationships with various GTAA\xe2\x80\x99s departments in relation to the payment receipt and disbursement processes, includes providing the financial institutions and internal customers information regarding GTAA\xe2\x80\x99s banking arrangements, processes, and cash transaction flows
  • Maintain database of capital markets information, as used for the compilation of the Banker Performance Scorecard
  • Track, validate and accrue for Change Orders in Oracle during month end and quarter end closes
  • Collaborate the Vendor management team and key IT vendors
  • Update and amortization schedule for prepaid IT contracts
  • Reporting on purchase orders, change orders and associated coding in Oracle
  • Use GTAA quality management system to develop and implement methods for ensuring the quality of work
  • Lead Treasury\xe2\x80\x99s financial month-end process
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, post to Treasura\xe2\x80\x99s general ledger, generate a GL transaction upload file, and coordinate with Controllership to ensure timely posting into Oracle GL system
  • Ensure treasury accounting-related trial balance is accurate and completed in a timely fashion in consultation with Controllership team
  • Perform variance analysis of treasury related trial balance (B/S & P/L) versus budget and provide commentary. Prepare and distribute related reports to relevant partners. Comfortable working with MS Excel financial models
  • Perform month-end functions using Treasura (feeds into Oracle), Oracle, Workday Adaptive and journal entry template set-ups
  • Lead the daily and monthly Treasury accounting transactions and reports
  • For investments, borrowings, banking transactions and any other treasury related activities, run daily and monthly reports and transactions, prepare spreadsheets,
  • Perform analysis and reconciliations to ensure reported information matches and is supported by source system reports (Oracle, Treasura, banking applications)
  • Produce ad-hoc reports and analysis as required by Treasury team
  • Provide support on treasury-related projects as requested

This is a unionized with an hourly wage of $38.76, based on a 37.5 hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A practical test will be administered as a part of the competitive process.
Qualifications:
  • Completed or working towards successful completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant designation (\xe2\x80\x9cCPA\xe2\x80\x9d). An equivalent may be considered
  • University degree in Business/Commerce, Accounting, Finance and Economics or a related field or combination
  • Must have 2-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with budget and forecasting reporting processes
  • Must have 2-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 practical experience in accounting and financial planning and reporting
  • Must have 2- 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 practical experience with Adaptive, Oracle and Discoverer reporting systems or other similar systems
  • 1 to 3 years Treasury or Banking experience highly desired, with demonstrated working knowledge and experience related to treasury, investing, or accounting
  • Working knowledge of accounting is needed
  • Budget and forecasting development along with monthly, financial reporting process capabilities
  • Proficient with MS Excel (intermediate), Word and Outlook. Hands on experience with Oracle and Workday Adaptive is desired
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of treasury functions and how it impacts the organization
  • Knowledge of banking and cash management practices and the ability to interpret, translate and produce the required recordings, reports, wire requests, borrowing notices and proper system/database management
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting policies and procedures from journal entry preparation to general ledger posting and account reconciliations in providing accurate, beneficial reports to management
  • Demonstrated skills in manipulating and interpreting data, identifying cash flow patterns and trends, maintaining strong links to source providers of information, solving problems and performing sound financial analysis with valuable results
  • Demonstrated understanding and working experience in accounting, business analysis, budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ability to influence decisions based on economic / financial analysis and business needs
  • Ability to work with MS Excel spreadsheets and financial models to prepare and assess cash flow forecasts and identify borrowing and / or investment needs
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively to ensure all due dates are met (daily wire requests, month-end functions, analysis, ad-hoc requests)
  • High level of personal initiative and the ability to educate and train internal and external partners on specific treasury related procedures, processes, functions, and systems (Treasura, online cash management banking system)
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Collaborate with external and internal auditors and executive management.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to proficiently work with and use enterprise reporting databases/systems, preference given to those with working experience with Treasura, Oracle and Adaptive
  • Strong ability to form relationships and work cross functionally with internal departments, including senior and executive management (finance, other departments) as well as externally (financial institutions, bankers, trustee (bonds), external auditors, Treasura support, other Treasury related corporations) and be seen as a key point of contact and advisor
  • Ability to influence others as there is a requirement to educate and train others on Treasury related processes, banking protocol and procedures and Treasury related systems and make recommendations to partners based on financial analysis
  • Good judgment, diagnostic, evaluative and analytical skills in exchanging and discussing information with others in order to reconcile, investigate, explain and clarify data, resolve discrepancies and prepare accurate forecasts
