Business line background Segment Line Powertrain Electrification develops analog driver products needed to implement traction inverters, on-board chargers (OBCs), and HV DC/DC converters, Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE), and external chargers for xEVs (electric vehicles) and other e-Mobility applications. We are seeking an experienced engineer to be part of our Product Architecture & Definition team for our Electrification product portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, defining, and evaluating analog and power ICs for implementing electrified powertrains , external chargers, eScooters, and other e-Mobility systems and applications. We are looking for individuals who can understand the technical problem a customer faces and can then propose a product that can solve that problem. The candidate will be responsible move from developing a IC product concept to delivering a Product Definition. We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated and creative problem solvers who can work with little direct oversight in a collaborative environment. This Product Definition role will have a significant contribution to the success and future growth of our Product Line. Job Responsibilities
  • Define analog and power ICs for implementing electrified powertrains for xEVs.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams (applications, design, product test engineers), business management, and sales management to define system and performance requirements, feature set, and architecture definition for the proposed products.
  • Understand process technologies, packaging options, thermal/power analysis, design/system constraints and trade-offs in order to propose cost-effective and competitive solution for the target applications
  • Develop and write detailed system and product specifications and product validation test plans
  • Propose new products to complement the product roadmap and ensures that the business will have sustainable differentiation in its product portfolio
  • Negotiate product specification details with customers while also having the ability to articulate the linkage between performance and system or application criteria and device specs.
  • Assist product marketing with deriving market requirements, technical definition trade-offs and validating value propositions and competitive analysis.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to participate in internal functional team and customer meetings in locations around the world.
Qualifications: Education:
  • Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Specific domain knowledge in automotive electronics, power electronics, WBG power devices, power conversion, or electric machines.
Skills and Experience:
  • 5 years or more of industrial or automotive semiconductor experience with power devices characterization and/or applications, applications / systems support for electrified powertrain HW systems, analog/power/mixed-signal circuit design or automotive IC product definer or architect.
  • Prior experience working at Automotive Tier 1 or 2 supplier in defining, implementing, or supporting 48V or high-voltage (> 200V) systems (inverters, on-board chargers, DC/DC converters, etc.) for traction motors, motor generators, external chargers, or energy storage systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience defining or application support of high-voltage isolation products (gate drivers, amplifiers, ADCs) desired.
  • Hands-on lab experience working with high-power (>50 kW to MW) systems.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with successful experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Outstanding skills at communicating high-level conceptual or system concepts and detailed technical requirements (both in writing and orally) with internal teams and customers.
  • Familiarity with requirements tracking tools such as IBM DOORS is a strong plus.
  • Knowledgeable regarding automotive quality (AEC-100) and reliability requirements, safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA) and familiar with functional safety standards such as ISO26262 desired
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as required (and allowed)
