Bring your considerable experience in project management and interest in environmental decision making to the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks, Environmental Assessment Branch. You will work on major, complex environmental assessment projects related to natural resource development, infrastructure, resource recovery operations and transit infrastructure in a fast paced setting.



About our Branch




The Environmental Assessment Branch

is responsible for delivery and program support of the environmental assessment program. The branch also provides advice related to Indigenous engagement to the Division.

In this role:

You will provide strategic project leadership

to the coordination and planning of activities related to the review of environmental assessments, and the creation of regulatory review processes that affect environmental assessments

You will assist in the development of policy recommendations

for systemic improvements to better achieve Ministry objectives

You will establish effective working relationships

with government agencies and external stakeholders to ensure adequate technical support for environmental assessment projects

You will thrive in a fast paced, environment working on high profile projects

including resource recovery facilities; transit and transportation proposals; and natural resource/mining projects;

You will guide the coordination of provincial and federal EA processes;

providing support for policy development initiatives such as EA modernization, climate change, cumulative effects, source protection as well as other legislation and initiatives.

Project management knowledge and leadership skills




You have the ability to:

use project management, planning and control methodologies to lead, coordinate, and support predominately central and eastern environmental and resource development projects define project management/program requirements, identify options, recommend solutions and oversee implementation lead the review of integrated environmental assessments projects and provide guidance to team members

Communication, consultation and relationship management skills




You have the ability to:

prepare formal presentations and reports, including preparing planning recommendations for decisions and to relay highly technical information in plain language recommend mutually acceptable solutions to contentious or sensitive issues where stakeholders have conflicting priorities understand and demonstrate experience with consultation theories and practices

Technical skills




You have the ability to demonstrate an understanding of:

current emerging environmental trends and issues specifically related to environmental assessment theories, principles, and practices of environmental and land use planning and knowledge of resource management policy development processes

Knowledge of environmental legislation




You have the ability to:

interpret and apply environmental legislation (e.g. Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Environmental Bill of Rights, Ontario Water Resources Act, Planning Act) demonstrate an understanding of the environmental assessment legislative and regulatory framework

Research and analytical skills




You have the ability to:

conduct research and assess relevance of information conduct in-depth analysis, identify issues and opportunities, determine priorities and organize work use analytical skills for establishing and following practices and guidance for quality assurance of documents
