A challenging opportunity exists in the Central Ambulance Communications Centre located in Wallaceburg in the municipality of Chatham-Kent. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment as an Ambulance Communications Officer II. Summary of Duties:
- Provide group leadership, technical direction and advice to Ambulance Communication Officers
- Perform the function of an Ambulance Communication Officer when required (answer, assess and direct responses to calls for Ambulance Services)
- Provide callers with pre-arrival instructions including first aid, CPR and choking intervention instructions
- Direct and coordinate ambulance and fire unit movement
- Document all elements of call activities with adherence to Ministry policies
- Perform administrative and program related tasks in support of program delivery
- Perform quality audits on Ambulance Communication Officers
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Management Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum 18 years of age, and Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of full-time work (or equivalent) as an Ambulance Communications Officer is required
- Communicate effectively and tactfully, both oral and written
- Read, interpret, understand and apply complex and overlapping policies
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to maintain control under pressure, work at a fast pace in an unpredictable environment
- Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking
- Make sound, independent decisions and exercise discretion during emergency/difficult/stressful situations, and be accountable for such decisions
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and stakeholders
- Strong computer literacy, data entry, retrieval and keyboarding skills
- Experience in Emergency Services is an asset Employment Offer Conditional on:

- Successful completion of all training requirements including ACO Provincial Certification
