Your opportunity:

The Advancement Office at the Faculty of Arts and Science is exceedingly important to the future success and operation of the Faculty as a whole. We are responsible for generating private-sector revenue to support the Faculty and all of its academic priorities. Our department engages in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with stakeholders, such as our accomplished alumni. We raise awareness among our current and prospective stakeholders regarding the importance of investing in our Faculty.

The Alumni Relations Officer reports to the Director, Alumni & Donor Engagement in a results oriented, fast-paced, team environment where they play a key role in delivering programming to increase alumni engagement levels among a broad, diversified base of alumni and in alignment with institutional-wide fundraising campaigns. The incumbent also works collaboratively with other Alumni Relations Officers to assist the Advancement team in achieving the goals of Advancement, particularly with respect to relationship building with alumni and future alumni.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Identifying and promoting alumni engagement opportunities to academic units, graduating students, industry partners and alumni
  • Writing routine correspondence to alumni and volunteers
  • Conceptualizing, organizing, and executing event activities.
  • Overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with prospective and existing donors
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of recent and related experience in the advancement field preferably in an educational setting, with proven success in promoting alumni involvement and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience planning and organizing events.
  • Experience with data management/databases and preparing reports.
  • Excellent and proven (oral and written) communication skills with the ability to draft, proofread and edit a range of written material.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to interact with alumni, senior volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Well-developed skills in MS Office, database software and web content management systems
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities working with social and multi-media tools and channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, etc.)
Assets (Nonessential)
  • Related experience in marketing or public relations would be an asset.

NOTE: We are recruiting two term positions: one term is to cover a secondment ending December 31, 2024 and another term is to cover leaves of absence, ending August 2, 2025
