POSITION SUMMARY:
The Alumni Relations Manager at Cedars Recovery is responsible for engaging and developing an inclusive, dynamic, and supportive alumni network that reflects Cedars' mission of lifelong recovery. This position bridges treatment and long-term recovery by fostering meaningful post-treatment relationships, positioning alumni and their families as vital contributors to the Cedars community. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Alumni Engagement Manager leads initiatives that celebrate alumni success, facilitate peer connection, and promote alumni involvement across all operational and clinical areas.
This role focuses on building and expanding alumni engagement initiatives through client lifecycle management strategies, events, digital platforms, and innovative community building/development practices. Working closely with the National Marketing & Communications Director, the Manager will develop and execute initiatives that deepen alumni relationships, strengthen Cedars' presence, and create ongoing value for those in recovery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Alumni Development:
Design and implement an integrated alumni engagement strategy aligned with Cedars' overarching Communications & Marketing Strategy
Position alumni as program ambassadors, speakers, mentors, and contributors across the recovery continuum
Design, launch, and evolve alumni engagement programs (events, workshops, digital communities, recovery-focused initiatives) to meet the diverse needs of alumni nationwide
Develop and coordinate a pool of alumni volunteers for on-site and community-based initiatives.Use data and feedback to assess program success and continuously refine strategies for greater reach and impact
Prepare monthly and annual reports on alumni engagement outcomes, including digital and social reach, app and platform usage, event participation and other metrics as needed
Community Engagement

Support the Marketing & Communications Director at annual conferences/community engagement events, including pre-event planning, coordination, setup, and representing Cedars as an ambassad
Plan and execute inclusive events such as the annual Alumni BBQ and Spring Awakeni
Coordinate Monthly Milestone celebration
Coordinate weekly alumni speakers with adequate lead tim
Plan and execute in-person and virtual events that foster meaningful connection for Cedars alumni, families and recovery communities.Promote events through coordinated marketing campaigns withing Cedars' brand, messaging and digital engagement strategie

Digital & Marketing Collaboration
:
Work closely with the Communications & Marketing Director to ensure all alumni-facing initiatives align with Cedar's engagement strategy.
Manage and grow Cedars' social media presence to meet annual KPI's, ensuring content and engagement strategies reflect our values and effectively connect with our primary audience
Help develop targeted campaigns, newsletters, social content, and online engagement strategies to keep alumni informed and connected.
Communications
:
Oversee and manage Cedars' alumni app, including content updates, user engagement, and performance tracking, while regularly evaluating the tool and making recommendations for enhancements to better serve our alumni commun
Curate alumni submitted content (art, writing, milestones, poetry, testimonials, blog).
Ensure content alignment of internal and externally facing communications with Cedars' values and confidentiality standards.
Support Cedars weekly digital staff newsletter alongside the Communications & Marketing Director.
Collaborate on the cross-promotion and cultivation across social and traditional media presence.
Culture, Outcomes & Values
:
Monitor engagement metrics, event participation, and satisfaction to track program effectiveness.
Report insights and recommendations to direct report to guide future strategy and resource allocation.
Take ownership of alumni initiatives, driving projects forward with minimal oversight.
Anticipate opportunities for program growth and alumni engagement, presenting actionable solutions to leadership.
Maintain boundaries and clarity of role for alumni peers interacting with current patients.
Act as an ambassador for Cedars, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted leader in treatment.
Ensure alumni engagement efforts reflect Cedars' commitment to cultural safety, Indigenous perspectives, and diverse recovery paths.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social Work, Addictions, Marketing, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in alumni relations, community engagement, event coordination, or related work.
Demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders including alumni, staff, families, and partners.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Experience with app or platform engagement strategies is an asset.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, digital).
Professional discretion and commitment to confidentiality.
A commitment to creating a positive environment conducive to healing for both patients and staff.
If in recovery, a minimum of two (2) years substance-free and active participation in a recovery program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work (e.g., conferences, events, milestone meetings).
Must maintain professionalism and discretion in all alumni and public-facing interactions.
Travel to community events, off-site meetings, conferences or alumni reunions will be required.
