Compensation Range $6,378.58 - $9,189.17 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary
The Alumni Engagement Manager supports UBC\xe2\x80\x99s Okanagan Campus and alumni UBC to achieve their strategic goals and has responsibility to develop, coordinate, execute and lead alumni engagement programs for UBC Okanagan. The Alumni Engagement Manager will be instrumental in developing and managing priority alumni relationships in order to advance the Faculty of Arts strategic goals through building relationships, enriching the lives of alumni and developing relevant and engaging communications materials. The optimal goal is development of a lifelong meaningful relationship between the Faculty of Arts and its alumni.

Working in collaboration with UBC Okanagan development office and alumni UBC, the successful candidate works closely with the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Engagement to ensure strategic identification, cultivation and stewardship of relationships with key alumni leaders, which may include; leveraging existing alumni and institutional relationships, identifying volunteer opportunities to engage alumni, building connections to respond to alumni interests, engaging academic units and facilitating fundraising opportunities, and organizing special activities and/or events that further such objectives.

Organizational Status
- Reports directly to the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement or Associate Director Alumni Engagement Okanagan Campus

- This position is a member of the DAE Okanagan Office -; works closely with strategic campus partners, committees; student and alumni groups
- May involve the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Principal\xe2\x80\x99s Office, Vice-Presidents Offices, Ceremonies, University Relations, and other senior administrators, as appropriate.

- Alumni, volunteers, donors, external community and professional organizations and government agencies.

Work Performed
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Alumni and Community Relations

- Works closely with Senior Director Alumni Engagement or Associate Director to develop strategic plans, in collaboration with faculty and university partners, to leverage alumni and community engagement, knowledge of alumni, interaction with students, alumni networks and strengthen faculty partnerships with identified priority alumni communities.

- Identifies and builds connections with key individual alumni to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to mobilize alumni to be Faculty of Arts ambassadors, mentors and employers.

- Develops and maintains external relationships that contribute to strategic alumni relationship management, including those with professional organizations, government agencies and officials, and community organizations.

- Plans and executes a series of high impact events with strategic communities to develop and engage strategic partnerships for the faculty.

2. Volunteer Management

- Participates in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging, and stewarding high-level student and alumni leaders.

- Partners with faculty members and staff to integrate and promote alumni participation in existing and expanding volunteer opportunities throughout the campus.

- Assists in building volunteer capacity across campus to foster a stronger sense of community amongst alumni and students.

- Creates and stewards an Alumni Advisory Council for Okangan Campus.
- Develops and implements volunteer recognition opportunities.

3. Student and Alumni Programming

- Participates and advises on programming to connect students with alumni, celebrating student success, and leveraging existing student affinity and leadership groups.

- Works closely and partners with the strategic student organizations and services to develop student leadership opportunities aimed at engaging alumni

4. Communications

- Participates and supports the alumni UBC communications team to develop strategy to communicate with alumni communities.

- Provide direction on content for alumni communications materials such as The University of British Columbia Magazine, e-newsletters, faculty communications, the website and other collateral materials.

- Articulates campus aspirations and needs to alumni UBC communications team to ensure alignment and maximum impact of resource investments.

- Collaborate with internal partners to develop protocols and procedures to collect and maintain accurate alumni profiles and program information in the University s database in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner.

5. Event Management

- Working closely with alumni UBC and strategic partners, oversees and may coordinate a series of high impact events associated with milestone events and activities.

- Proactively anticipates strategic institutional and faculty milestones and integrates these activities into a strategic alumni management strategy.

- Leads the strategy for marquee programs for the campus including Graduation, Homecoming, and Alumni Builder Awards.

6. Other Duties

- Participates in developing and takes responsibility for implementing strategies to identify alumni needs, attitudes and feelings towards the faculty and connect them with appropriate opportunities and partnerships within the University. Works closely with colleagues to ensure appropriate recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship programs are implemented for identified student, alumni and community leaders.

- Collaborates in developing and implementing a program of assessment and evaluation to monitor and measure progress.

- Assist development staff in developing a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, engaging and soliciting donations in support of the faculty.

- Maintains accurate information management of alumni and integrates data collection and data mining into work plan.

- Performs other related duties as required (especially those related to the planning and execution of special events and/or activities).

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The incumbent will oversee many of the UBC Okanagan\xe2\x80\x99s campus most visible interactions with alumni, thus errors in judgment could have far-reaching and long-term financial and non-financial consequences. For example, the incumbent will help identify and nurture relationships with influential alumni who may be approached by UBC Okanagan for key leadership roles.

Works independently with general direction from the Senior Director Alumni Engagement establishes performance goals and expectations in consultation with same.

Supervision Given
May supervise support staff, student employees and/or alumni and student volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications
University degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience at a post-secondary education institution, including significant alumni relations and/or advancement experience and/or experience in fundraising. Experience in budget development and control required. People management experience. Proven leadership abilities. Experience in program development, delivery, and management. Experience in strategic planning, implementation, and communications, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. High-level understanding of university advancement issues and environment. Ability to effectively manage time and to work well under pressure. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Agility in team environment and in working with a wide range of people. Ability to lead initiatives and projects involving senior colleagues and volunteers; Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex tasks, and to meet deadlines.
