AltaGas - Midstream Operations Specialist

As part of a growing team in the Unified Operations Center the Specialist, Midstream Operations will be the bridge between centralized subject matter experts and the field operations staff. Their goal will be to ensure continuity between process optimization efforts and the application of controls to ensure changes are developed with all stakeholders involvement, communicated, documented, applied and sustained at the field sites.

This role requires strong collaboration with the Field Leadership Teams and Field Operations Leads to communicate the process requirements and optimization efforts and alleviate any hurdles or roadblocks to working towards the best solution available.

You will

Understand facility KPIs and assist Lead Operations staff in optimizing plant processes to operate at peak rates.

Mentor Lead Operators on process optimization methods and documentation of operations trials.

Work in the UOC to provide subject matter expertise from an operational perspective.

Ensure development and field implementation of operations guidelines for troubleshooting and optimization initiatives

Interact with Asset teams including Operations, Commercial and Logistics personnel to understand the opportunities and priorities for focused studies on process improvements.

Understand facility KPIs and ensure their data acquisition for reporting is accurate.

Prepare test plans for evaluation of optimization initiatives with cause and effect relationships.

Act as Operations SME for UOC enacted events.

Represent operations on hazard assessments where appropriate.

Interact with Technical Subject Matter Experts to describe operating conditions and relay Technical SME guidance to operations

Ensure field operations competency programs are current and support site leadership to ensure workers are meeting the intention of the program.

Provide guidance to field lead operations staff and develop succession plans to ensure the growth of Operations personnel across Midstream facilities.

Provide validation of competency of Lead Operators for process optimization and as validator for site trainer validation

Work with Document Control team to ensure effective accumulation and management of operating documents including:

You have

Power Engineering Certificate preferred

A minimum of 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Plant Operations, with experience in troubleshooting, commissioning & startup activities.

Possesses strong technical aptitude Gas processing with LPG fractionation plant specific experience

Effective leadership skills Proven leadership capabilities demonstrated through management of various projects

Experience in a regulated environment Knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional requirements and ability to research.

Knowledge of Commission & Startup standards and industry practices.

Possesses strong technical aptitude Strong technical knowledge in utilization of engineering drawings such as P&ID, Plot Plan, Shutdown Keys.

Possesses strong technical aptitude Strong working knowledge of Operations Management Systems and US Process Safety Systems in a plant environment is required

Builds and manages effective teams Experience working with a multi-discipline team including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Commercial and LPG Supply/Delivery

Possesses strong product knowledge Intermediate knowledge of MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Excellent organizational skills Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

Performs work independently with minimal supervision Ability to work independently and with minimal direction

Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making skills Ability to make timely decisions working in a dynamic environment
