AltaGas - Analyst, Finance Midstream

Reporting to the Manager of Midstream Finance the Analyst, Finance Midstream will focus on the accounting and financial analysis for assets within the Midstream operations.

You Will:

Prepare and enter accurate and timely accounting entries for assigned gas midstream assets in accordance with US GAAP

Prepare various monthly OPEX accruals and actual entries for gas processing facilities accurately, and within firm reporting deadlines

Work with Operations Managers to prepare accurate annual operating expense (OPEX) budgets, and monthly financial outlook updates

Analyze, and explain month-over-month, year-over-year, and actual-to-budget OPEX variances, and resolve any issues identified

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations

Liaise with the Commercial Development team, and customers to prepare operating cost recovery accruals, OPEX equalization invoices, and answer stakeholder queries regarding OPEX

Review capital project timelines with Project Managers monthly, prepare capital asset in-service forms, capital job close forms, and asset disposals

Run monthly depreciation and amortization, and enter asset retirement obligation (ARO) accruals

Review and understand contractual agreements and ensure adherence by working with various departments

Seek to improve the quality and efficiency of monthly analysis & accounting entries

Maintain and enhance financial forecast models including annual budgets and monthly forecasts, based on knowledge of the business

Build strong working relationships with various departments; work proactively to identify opportunities to work as a strategic partner

Support the business with financial analysis to aid with decision making

Prepare and distribute ad hoc analysis as required

You Have:

3 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years of progressive accounting experience preferably within oil and gas

Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

CPA designation an asset

Advanced knowledge in Excel and working knowledge of QuickLaunch considered an asset

Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities

Experience with JD Edwards, TIPS and Power BI software considered an asset

Enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills

Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision, high attention to detail, and be able to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
