Position Overview:
As The Airport Operations Manager - Central Canada is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations at Flair Airlines' airports in the central region. The role focuses on improving operational efficiency, maintaining safety standards, managing third-party service providers, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This manager is tasked with driving performance, reducing costs, and aligning operational outcomes with corporate goals across a diverse set of airports within Central Canada
Primary Job Functions:
Safety & Training:
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to training standards across all airports in the central region. Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) processes, investigations, and corrective action plans. Ensure ground handlers meet training standards and maintain compliance.
Ancillary Revenue Optimization:
Equip station management and agents at airports in Central Canada with tools and knowledge to enhance ancillary revenue streams. Develop and communicate performance targets while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Operational Oversight:
Manage on-the-ground operations at check-in, departure gates, and ramps to ensure service provider compliance with safety, reliability, and service standards. Oversee ground service equipment (GSE) maintenance and operational performance. Conduct regular reviews with the General Manager and service providers to evaluate performance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build strong relationships with service providers, airport authorities, security, fuel, catering, and other partners at airports in Central Canada. Represent the airline at regional airport meetings and advocate for Flair's interests.
Policy & Procedure Compliance
: Ensure consistent application of operational policies and customer service standards at airports in Central Canada.
Baggage Services Management:
Oversee the ground handling partner's baggage tracking, handling, and delivery processes, ensuring compliance with Flair's policies. Identify and implement improvements in the station's Missing Bag Ratio (MBR).
Secondary Job Functions:
Travel as needed to attend meetings and visit various airport operations in the region.
Support cost management by reviewing ad-hoc operational needs and approving additional operational expenses.
Collaborate with regulatory bodies such as CTA, TC, USCBP to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations across Central Canada.
Manage irregular operations (IROP) and assist with operational challenges during disruptions in the region.
Leverage company and departmental resources to ensure teams have the necessary tools and knowledge to perform effectively.
Contribute to business improvement initiatives as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:
+ Post-secondary degree in business or aviation-related field is an asset but not required.
Experience:
+ 3-5 years of experience in airport operations, with a focus on airports in Central Canada.
+ Experience with SGHA and IATA contracts is an asset.
+ Proven ability to prioritize resources and make decisions in fast-paced environments.
+ Previous exposure to air safety legislation, CATSA regulations, and audit program management is highly regarded.
Skills & Abilities:
+ Strong leadership and change management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations across a variety of airports in Central Canada.
+ Ability to influence stakeholders at all managerial levels.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to triage operational issues effectively.
+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams).
+ Strong understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and regional regulations.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
