Job Description

The Thunder Bay International Airports Authority is seeking a technically skilled, adaptable, certified electrician to fill the position of Airport Electrician. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Services Supervisor.

The Airport Electrician, as part of the facilities group, is responsible for maintaining the electrical systems in the airport establishments while following through with high standards of safety in performing essential functions of the airport.

Basic Requirements for the Position:



B1 - Possession of a valid electrician, inter-provincial red seal electrician certificate or red seal certificate of qualification

B2- Secondary school diploma, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant education & experience.

B3 - Must be able to read, write and speak English.

B4 - Valid class "G" driver's license and clean driver's abstract

B5 - Clear criminal record check and ability to acquire and maintain and RAIC pass

Additional Qualifications:



Education:

E1 - The position requires formal apprenticeship or technical school training coupled with experience in the electrical construction and maintenance industry

Knowledge:

K1 - Aadvanced knowledge of high voltage, up to 28 kv, and low voltage electrical power distribution systems

K2 - Safety practices and procedures in the isolation of electrical systems, switching, controls, lighting systems, power generation, fire and security alarms and detection systems, VFDs, BAS, PLCs and Communication Networks

K3- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory as applied to the control and operation of airport electrical systems.

Abilities:

A2 - Effectively communicate in writing

A3 - Quickly adapt to rapidly changing environments

A4 - Solve problems, make decisions, plan, and organize

A5 - Follow company policies, regulations and direction

A7 - Accomplish multiple objectives under tight timelines & procedures
A8 - Tracking and ordering materials, parts and resources
A9 - Maintain a Working at Heights certificate

A10- Work in variable weather conditions and temperatures

Skills:
S1 - Adjusting, calibrating, realigning and replacing electrical components
S2-Equipment installation
S3- Demonstrating and explaining various electrical systems, equipment and installations,

S4- Reading, interpreting and editing electrical drawings

E1 - 2-5 years working as a certified electrician in a federally regulated environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $42.20 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
