Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice



Sander Geophysics (SGL) specializes in high-resolution airborne geophysical surveys for resource exploration, as well as geographical and environmental mapping. The company carries out airborne gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, and radiometric surveys, using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

We are hiring an AME Apprentice to be based at the company's headquarters in Ottawa and they must be available to travel for occasional rotational field work around the world. Our fleet includes C208 Caravans, DHC-6 Twin Otters, and AS350 helicopters.

Responsibilities of the Position



Perform all maintenance activities in accordance with applicable standards of airworthiness and the MPM;

Troubleshoot faulty systems to determine a course of rectification in conjunction with a licensed AME;

Remove and install aircraft parts associated with aircraft engines, frame, flight controls and other systems as required;

Perform various duties including engine runs and aircraft towing, as trained and authorized to do so;

Make entries on work cards, inspection sheets and work packages for own work done;

Fill out and sign unserviceable tags;

Ensure that all work and all parts used are checked by the supervising ACA holder before closing access panels;

Immediately report to direct supervisor for any items that may affect the airworthiness of the component or aircraft upon which they are working, and ensure the defect is properly addressed;

Use equipment and substances in accordance with any training and instruction given;

Understand, comply and promote all company safety precautions and policies including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations;

Keep workplace tidy and assist with hangar clean-up;

Maintain a personal logbook as issued and approved by Transport Canada; and

Attend training courses as directed.

Qualifications and Experience



Successful completion of an approved Aircraft Maintenance Training Program; Experience on C208 and DHC-6 aircraft a definite asset; Knowledgeable understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations; Willingness to travel internationally on short notice for periods of up to 2 months; Valid passport and driver's license; Ability to obtain Transport Canada restricted area pass; and Available to work after-hours occasionally as required.
