As our new Air Quality Junior Scientist , you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. The successful applicant/s for this position will provide technical support on air quality and environmental engineering projects, including assistance with data analysis, technical reporting, and field work. Success in this role will depend on your ability to perform in a fast-paced, demanding environment that requires a high level of attention to detail.
Role
As our new Air Quality Technician, you will play an important role with our current team working on working on projects across Alberta.
Working closely with other team members, you'll contribute to air quality and meteorological sampling, environmental permitting reports, emissions monitoring, and dispersion modelling. You'll also prepare field notes and environmental summary reports for work conducted across Alberta
Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular sampling at air quality and meteorology monitoring stations
  • Download continuous monitoring data and perform analyses and reporting of the measurement data
  • Liaise with the analytical laboratories providing sample analyses, ensuring analysis and data reporting schedules are being followed.
  • Conduct independent analyses, interpretations, and conclusions
  • Prepare a variety of environmental reports
  • Plan, report and track schedules, stakeholders and budget as part of project management
  • Follow established health and safety policies

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
  • 1 year of experience in in the environmental services industry (previous co-op or internship experience considered)
  • Experience conducting fieldwork in remote areas in the fields of air quality and/or meteorology
  • Familiarity with air dispersion models, including AERMOD and CALPUFF, or any other programming software
  • Familiarity with project management concepts, tools, and controls
  • Work well independently, including the ability to work alone in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources
  • Exposure to other environmental consulting services (i.e. hydrogeology, contaminated sites, risk assessment)
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related studies
  • Valid driver's license required for travel to job sites/clients
