Classroom Therapy Aide (CTA) - Early Childhood Services (ECS) Program

Purpose of the Position:
This is a 10-month position, Monday to Friday, with hours outside of a regular workday occasionally required.
The CTA is responsible for working with the classroom teacher and therapy team to support the children in the classroom environment while targeting individual goals (such as Behavior, Speech, Physiotherapy, or Occupational Therapy) outlined in the children's Individual Program Plan (IPP).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide a fun, positive learning environment that encourages children's success through play-based programming.
Support the development of skills which may include communication (possible use of assistive technology, sign language, or pictures), mobility, independence, play, feeding, dressing, and toileting
Implement any strategies provided by teachers or therapists on an ongoing basis, to support goals in child's IPP (Individual Program Plan)
Assist with tracking and data collection for teachers and therapists to support with IPP goals and child progress reports.
Attend weekly planning meetings with teachers and therapists.
Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, and activity prep to ensure the smooth running of the classroom
Adhere to all of Pacekids' policies, procedures and guidelines.
Follow all processes outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety program, including reporting and recording any concerns of abuse or neglect, transportation or other safety incidents.
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Higher Education in a related field is an asset
Current Standard or Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level- C
Clearance from a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, current within the last six months
Clearance from a Child Intervention Record Check, current within the last year
Experience working with children with diverse needs and multidisciplinary therapy team is an asset.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to move quickly in response to a child; must be able to work at the child's level which requires but is not limited to prolonged bending, sitting on the floor or on a stool, and kneeling
Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
Able to commit to a minimum of 1 year for rapport and continuity
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families and staff
Be adaptable and flexible
