Job Description

Sask DLC requires a temporary AI Project Consultant, with a start date of December 1st, 2025 or earlier based on the availability of the applicant. This temporary contract will conclude after 3 months. The AI Project Consultant will lead a short-term exploratory project to identify Sask DLC's current and future AI needs across operations, teaching, and learning. Acting as both technical project manager and subject-matter expert, the incumbent will work closely with the AI Coach, support from Information Technology, Policy and Privacy and Student Programming departments, and other departments as required to design a roadmap for sustainable, ethical, and system-wide AI integration.
Primary Responsibilities
AI Needs Assessment & Environmental Scan

  • Identify gaps, risks and opportunities in teaching, assessment, course development, student support and operations.
  • Benchmark against best practices in organizational AI implementation.
Strategic Planning & Roadmap Development
  • Co-develop a 1- to 3-year AI Implementation Roadmap for Sask DLC, including quick wins, pilot projects, and long-term system integrations.
  • Define governance, policy, and workflow structures required to sustain AI adoption across educational and administrative functions.
Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as project lead, setting clear deliverables, milestones, and timelines for the AI initiative.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental meetings.
  • Prepare concise technical and non-technical progress reports for executive review.
Technical & Systems Expertise
  • Evaluate AI platforms and tools for scalability, security, compliance, and integration potential with existing systems (e.g., Moodle, Microsoft 365, LMS data).
  • Provide technical guidance on architecture, data governance, and ethical AI deployment in education.
  • Recommend strategies for future-state automation, analytics, and content generation aligned to executive leadership requests.
Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer
  • Develop a "Playbook" or toolkit summarizing AI implementation models, risk mitigation strategies, and next-step recommendations.
  • Ensure all deliverables are actionable and sustainable beyond the contract term.
Deliverables by End Of Term
  • Comprehensive AI System Needs Assessment Report
  • 3-Year AI Roadmap with phased implementation plan
  • Executive briefing presentation and recommendations summary
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of project and portfolio management processes and best practices.
  • Knowledge of strategic and tactical planning processes and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities including strong analytical and
  • organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills such as negotiation, consensus building, and issue-management.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve corporate/organization priorities and outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas/concepts concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • In-depth knowledge of program review methodologies, data analysis techniques, and program evaluation.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret various forms of data.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Required Education and Experience
  • Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are gained through a degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related discipline, combined with several years' experience working within the Information Technology/Information Management sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Employment Conditions
  • Office environment/setting.
  • Typical core office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Monday to Friday.
  • Travel as required.
