Role Overview:
As a Rapid Prototyping Engineer, this role rapidly turns business ideas into working prototypes by leveraging AI coding assistants and modern stacks to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and maintainability standards.
The focus is on assembling solutions--integrating APIs, data sources, and third?party services.
Work proceeds in short, time?boxed cycles with frequent demos and stakeholder feedback to converge quickly on validated MVPs and reduce rework.
AI?generated code is validated through tests, peer/code review, and security/licensing checks to ensure reliability and responsible use of AI in the software lifecycle.
Prompt strategies and reusable patterns are documented and versioned as a library, with CI/CD hooks to evaluate, update, and govern prompts over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Rapidly prototype using AI assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor), crafting high?quality prompts and iterating based on model feedback to accelerate proof?of?concept delivery.
Assemble AI?generated components into functional applications by wiring APIs, databases, authentication, and third?party services with pragmatic, testable designs.
Run short, time?boxed sprints with a weekly demo cadence; capture stakeholder feedback into the backlog to drive iterative refinement toward MVP.
Validate AI?assisted code via unit/integration tests and peer/code reviews; use AI code review where appropriate without replacing human approvals.
Enforce security and compliance guardrails with code scanning, dependency/license checks, and remediation of findings before demos or handoffs.
Establish minimal CI/CD for prototypes with automated tests and linting; add logging and basic monitoring to enable quick diagnosis during iterations.
Create and maintain a reusable prompt/pattern library with versioning, structured outputs, and evaluation criteria for reliability and repeatability.
Document build/run instructions, environment prerequisites, and decision logs to make prototypes reproducible and handoff?ready.
Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., CIO, product, operations) to clarify requirements, prioritize high?leverage experiments, and de?scope non?essential features early.
Transition successful prototypes toward hardened MVPs with basic observability, quality gates, and a clear path to productionization.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Number of prototypes delivered per month.
Speed from idea to functional prototype (cycle time).
Quality of AI-assisted code (test coverage, code reviews, security compliance).
Stakeholder satisfaction and feedback incorporation.
Reusability and growth of prompt/pattern library.
Successful transition of prototypes to MVPs.
Efficiency and adoption of AI-assisted workflows.
