Key Responsibilities:



Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and oversight of project execution. Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks (PySpark), Delta Lake, and lakehouse architectures. Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions and communicate progress, risks, and design decisions clearly. Build and maintain high-performance semantic models and curated datasets to support Power BI reporting and enterprise analytics. Implement and enforce engineering best practices including CI/CD, data quality frameworks, documentation standards, and cloud governance. Collaborate with architects, analysts, and product owners to prioritize work, define solution roadmaps, and ensure alignment with enterprise data strategy.

This role will require 3 days per week at the local Mississauga office or a client site located in the Greater Toronto Area.




What you need

:

A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, or engineering 4-6 years of experience with Azure Data Services including Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Delta Lake, and Azure Synapse. 4-6 years of hands-on expertise building distributed ETL/ELT pipelines with PySpark and Databricks notebooks. Ability to design and optimize Power BI datasets, dataflows, and semantic models to ensure fast, reliable reporting and a consistent enterprise data layer. Excellent business communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical concepts. Proven track record leading and developing high-performing technical teams within a cloud data environment. Solid knowledge of data modeling, lakehouse patterns, and Power BI data support (datasets, dataflows, and performance tuning).

Bonus points if you have:



Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, automated deployments, and CI/CD for data engineering. Familiarity with data governance tools such as Azure Purview or Collibra. Exposure to streaming data architectures (Event Hubs, Kafka, or Structured Streaming).
