As ATB\'s next Agriculture Specialist, specializing in Hutterite Colonies, your role will be to provide agriculture expertise and support to ATB\'s agriculture strategy. This role is responsible for supporting new business opportunities and existing customers with new or existing needs within the Province of Alberta. You will be conducting market analysis, leading, coordinating and representing ATB professionally in various agricultural based community events, and providing support to the sales teams in identifying, pursuing and closing of new business.

The Agriculture Specialist is an internal expert on agricultural lending. Lending expertise is coupled with in-depth understanding and experience in consumer credit and structuring complex deals. You will report to the Director of Agriculture - Crop Segment, and work closely with other Agriculture Specialists, along with other specific segment Directors. This position is expected to contribute to the growth of the overall agricultural portfolio and reach targets set by the business.

Accountabilities:

Business Development

• Cultivate relationships with clients and potential clients
• Join with Relationship Managers (RM) on joint farm calls to help succeed in new business and further business with existing clients including retention of existing business relationships
• Work with RMs with their existing clients to deepen relationships and seek out opportunities for growth
• Contribute to the ATB Agriculture Advisory Journey by providing advisory services both internally and externally
• Attend industry events and conferences to increase knowledge and stay up to date with practices and new developments
• Develop relationships with clients and potential clients from Red Deer North and elsewhere as strategically applicable
• Immerse in the Hutterite Colony business community, building a reputation for integrity and reliability - be aware of current market conditions and trends, as well as competitive conditions and trends
• Develop relationships with COI\'s specifically Accountants and Lawyers
• Attend industry events where clients and potential clients are typically in attendance (pork, poultry, milk, etc.)

Training

• Contribute to development of agriculture RMs through joint calls and mentoring
• Attend and contribute to Agribusiness team meetings and regional team meetings to provide industry insight and specific training as requested by Directors
• Train Underwriters to assist with raising the bar in respect to knowledge and understanding of of agriculture practices and nuances
• Collaborate with credit adjudicators to further develop their knowledge of the current agricultural environment
• Coach RM\'s in appropriate approach to Hutterite Colony business

Client Analysis

• Support RMs, Underwriters and credit through deal specific analysis
• Offer expert advice at all stages of new or renewing credit deals on an as needed basis
• Debrief deals with partners for training purposes
• Assist with Pricing of Deals to ensure consistent approach across the province

Requirements:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Post secondary degree in agriculture or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of business/Agri-Industry lending and sales experience
• Strong knowledge of lending policies and products
• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with customers and internal business partners
• Strong mentoring, coaching and organizational skills
• Excellent presentation and communication (both verbal and written) skills
• Possess strong knowledge of credit writing policies and procedures
• Mobile and flexible to travel, Vehicle is required
