Job Description


The expectation of this position is to increase revenue by properly monitoring all WSIB patient activity, recovering missed billing, monthly reviews of ongoing long term care patient billing, analyzing rejected accounts to understand if the claim is rejected or further information is required prior to payment being made. Review new WSIB registered patients and all WSIB request of information documents to be sure registrations related to the injury have been billed correctly and if not, correct and submit within allowable timelines. Educate all HHS Clinical Staff of the impact of WSIB revenue on Budgets and overall Financial impact to the organization. Review payments on older claims to ensure payments are in line with the allowed status of the claim. Prepare reports for leadership to identify recovered revenues submitted and received. Prepare journal entries to identify questionable recoveries to protect from overinflating revenue until payment received.

Qualifications * Accounting and or business education diploma or equivalent experience and financial services experience

2. 3 yrs Hospital Clinical experience
3. Patient registration experience
4. Medical Terminology, with the ability to discuss medical services and reports to all levels of WSIB staff. Clear understanding of medical billing processes and procedures
5. Strong ability to review a patient chart with specific focus on consultation notes, other facility information, transfer documents, patient history and physical notes, clinic notes, diagnostic test requisitions, and reports.
6. Meditech Admitting and BAR Modules, Sovera, PACS, Telus Emergis Website, OHIP and WSIB Schedule of benefits and ability to understand error codes and how to manage them for lost revenue prevention.
7. Health Card verification systems
8. Have an understanding of private insurance company preferred accommodation policies and practices
9. Excellent communication skills in all formats with all levels of clinical staff, financial leadership, external stakeholders, patients, and other health facilities.
10. Proven daily use of Microsoft office products as well as Outlook
11. Strong investigative and problem solving skills.
12. Comfortable in presenting information to small or large groups
13. Ongoing education towards Accounting designation or degree
