About the role

The primary responsibility of the role is to handle the administrative tasks for syndicated deals where multiple banks lend to a borrower, where HSBC Bank Canada (HBCA) is the Agent Bank. The role also supports relationship managers on transactions where HSBC Bank Canada (HBCA) is a participant bank (another bank is the Agent).\xe2\x80\x8e This support primarily involves reviewing credit agreements prior to deal closing for administrative aspects. The deals in Agency Services are highly complex in nature. Working knowledge of Loan IQ is a requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong interaction with loan administration, Transaction Management and the Relationship Managers as necessary to complete transaction.
  • Prepare customer invoices for interest and fees, and other accounting entries as and when required.
  • Ensure internal and external customer feedback is logged and addressed
  • Ensure service standards and timely completion of requests is met.

  • Maintains/monitors service activity performed against standards
  • Complete activities within assigned authority, within current policies including but not limited to Commercial Lending Manual policy, etc
  • Ensure controls and internal/external standards are complied with; ensure legal/risk/finance/audit, etc. guidance is adhered to as applicable
  • Ensure operational issues, near misses, losses, etc are appropriately escalated to senior management for appropriate logging with Business Risk Control Management and auctioning
  • Periodic review of credit authorizations, credit agreements of the assigned facilities.
  • Check credit files of new deals to ensure that all documentation (credit authorizations, credit agreements, etc) are in place as per audit requirements.
  • Review various exception reports and controls to ensure all dollar and non-dollar information are processed accurately and in a timely fashion and that un-reconciled fees, interest are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Performing GL reconciliations, verification and performing/adhering to all control requirements.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and effectively identify and manage applicable money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), sanctions and reputational risks
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years commercial banking loan administration experience with solid familiarity of HUB/client connect input/ maintenance/reporting capabilities with a strong preference for experience with syndicated loans.
  • Customer service experience with commercial loan and/or treasury clients, preferably in commercial middle market and commercial real estate business segments.
  • Familiarity with regulations and compliance related to the syndications business is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with credit agreements and provisions is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to review agreements and assess provisions subject to interpretation
