Role Overview
As an Afterschool Program Instructor, you'll deliver coding and math curriculum to students using visual programming tools like EduBlocks and Python. You'll guide learners through project-based lessons, help them build foundational programming skills, and foster confidence in their abilities.
Responsibilities
Deliver prepared curriculum for Beginner and Advanced coding and math courses to students in grades 2-9
Facilitate hands-on coding projects using EduBlocks and Python
Introduce students to AI concepts in an age-appropriate manner
Create an inclusive, encouraging virtual classroom environment
Manage virtual classroom behaviour and engagement
Track student progress and provide feedback to Team Leads
Assist with technology troubleshooting during sessions
Participate in instructor training sessions and provide curriculum feedback
Qualifications
Required:
Experience working with children or youth (ages 7-15)
Understanding of Python programming concepts (variables, loops, conditionals, functions)
Strong communication and virtual classroom management skills
Must pass a background check
Preferred:
Experience with block-based programming tools (Scratch, EduBlocks, Blockly)
Teaching or tutoring experience
Familiarity with AI/machine learning concepts
Bilingual abilities is an asset
