The Wright Spot is a HIGH FIVE Accredited program, offering quality, child-centered recreational programs for families in the Leslieville and Beach areas.
We are currently seeking responsible and enthusiastic additions to our after-school program team. RECE/OCT/CYW certification is an asset, but not mandatory. Previous experience working with children and/or developing recreational play and inquiry-based programming is required. Experience as being a team lead, overseeing tasks and or assisting a Supervisor is a huge asset.

15 to 20 hours per week, shift 3:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
Location:
Bowmore Road Junior Public School, 80 Bowmore Rd, Toronto, ON M4L 3J2 and some remote work
Rate of Pay:
$23.00 to $28.00 per hour depending on experience
About the Role:
The Team Lead serves as the daily operational lead, ensuring that all programming aligns with the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development while overseeing and ensuring Program Leaders maintain a safe, inclusive and developmentally enriching environment for the children.
Follow recreational program plans to ensure that the physical and emotional well-being of children is prioritized.
Model best practices, guiding behaviour management and encouraging positive engagement with children.
Collaborate with the Supervisor to support program development, team management and problem solving.
Engage with parents and caregivers in a warm and welcoming manner and address all concerns with care, knowledge and an appreciation for cultural diversity and inclusivity.
Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Experience working with children and leading recreational teams as well as developing age-appropriate programming
A strong understanding of child development and best practices in program delivery
A warm, patient and supportive attitude when working with children
Ability to lift/carry items (weighing up to 20 kgs)
Certifications & Documentation
Post-secondary education or enrolment in one or more of the following is an asset: Early Childhood Education, Ontario College of Teachers, Child and Youth Care Worker.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C Certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation as recognized by WSIB (ongoing re-certification is required as a condition of continued employment).
Certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) prior to job start or be willing to complete training as soon as possible (within the first three months of employment).
Clear Vulnerable Sector (VS) Check.
Signed disclosure statement regarding any prior convictions.
Hiring Process
Candidates must participate in a short phone screening and an in-person interview to assess their leadership approach, experience working with children and commitment to child well-being.
Selected candidates must complete a paid trial shift, during which their ability to lead, engage positively with children and model HIGH FIVE Principles will be evaluated by a skilled Supervisor.
Selected candidates must provide 3 references that speak to their understanding of child development and trustworthiness. References must provide evidence that the candidate has demonstrated the ability to provide quality leadership to children.
