POSITION OVERVIEW

The After-School Program Leader supports children ages 5 - 9 through structured tutoring sessions, guided play, and hands-on enrichment activities.
You'll help students with homework, lead engaging educational games, and create a safe, welcoming space where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Supervise and engage children in daily after-school activities, promoting safety, inclusion, and fun. Provide homework help and light tutoring in literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects. Lead creative learning activities such as art, STEM challenges, group games, and mindfulness exercises. Encourage teamwork, confidence, and respect through positive role modeling and gentle guidance. Communicate with parents and caregivers about daily highlights and student progress. Support the Back to the Basics philosophy of balancing education, wellness, and personal growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Experience working with children (ages 5 - 9) in educational, recreational, or childcare settings. Strong communication and leadership skills. A caring, energetic, and reliable personality. Ability to maintain a positive, structured environment with patience and creativity.
Preferred:

Diploma or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, or related field. Experience with homework support, tutoring, or educational programming. Background in wellness, physical activity, or mindfulness practices. Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Weekdays (after-school hours, typically 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.)
