Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated After School Program Staff member to join our team at the Canterbury Community Association. This role is essential in delivering engaging educational programs that support the development of children in our community.
Responsibilities
Assist in the planning and implementation of educational programs for children.
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children during after-school activities.
Engage with children through interactive learning experiences.
Support children's individual learning needs through tutoring and personalized attention.
Collaborate with other staff members to enhance program offerings and ensure quality service.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's progress and program activities.
Plan outdoor activities or sports for groups of children
Create weekly or daily schedules taking into account children's age groups and interests
Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, sports or crafting)
Escort and oversee children
Educate campers through games and explorations
Set up and maintain equipment
Resolve occasional fights between children and address behavioral issues
Make sure all safety rules are followed
Ensure the site is clean and that campers don't litter recreational areas or nature
Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
Keep accurate incident and behaviour logs
Requirements
Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
Background in early childhood education is an asset.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to create engaging educational activities that foster learning and development.
Proven experience as Camp Counselor/ After-School Program Counselor or similar role working with children
Familiarity with indoor and outdoor activities
Patient and reliable
Organizational and communication skills
A love for children
Energetic and positive personality
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children)
Standard First aid- and CPR-certified is mandatory

Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (15 hours a week max)
Time: 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
