Job description:



We are seeking a caring, joyful, healthy, creative, physically fit individual to work in our After School Program with children ages 5 to 10 years over the school year. This is a part-time role, as a second leader for the hours of 2:15 to 5:15pm, Monday to Thursday and 12:15 to 5:15 pm on Fridays, totalling 17 hrs per week. Availability for extended hours for non-instructional school days and early dismissals throughout the school year. Availability for full days or extended hours (full or part-time) during December, March and summer break would be an asset, for our Out-of-School program.
This can work into a permanent position for the right candidate, by which benefit eligibility would occur after 3 months of employment.

About the Position:



The position would require someone who is alert and able to work in a busy and dynamic environment. A team player, whose responsibility and conscientiousness would contribute to an uplifting environment.

Our Facility:



The facility is a renovated heritage building in downtown Invermere, close to the beach and playgrounds. We have a bright character building with a gym, huge yards, old growth trees, fun playground equipment, outdoor play for all seasons, and gardens.

In Addition:



We encourage residents of the Columbia Valley to apply. Applicants who are not Canadian citizens must hold Permanent Resident Status to be eligible for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Playing with children in the yard and going off-site on field trips to local parks and the beach. Applying planning and leadership, to offer teachable moments through fun games, interesting activities such as science and art projects, and gardening. Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment that encourages exploration and creativity. Encouraging child participation in regular tidy up. Developing and maintain positive, open, and healthy relationships with parents, co-workers, and community.

Qualifications



Experience working with children over 5 years old. Positive guidance strategies and the motivation to encourage creative play. Commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Position Requirements:



Responsible Adult Certification or willingness to attain (20 hour course to be completed on candidates personal time but the course will be paid for by employer). Equivalent training may be considered. Children's First Aid and CPR or willingness to attain Upon hiring, a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check will be required and clearance attained in order to commence work.
