After School Instructor
to teach the
Build A Biz Kids: Entrepreneurship & Business
program -- a unique, hands-on learning experience for elementary-aged students.
About the Program:
The Build a Biz Kids entrepreneurship program empowers students with real-world business and leadership skills.
Instructors will follow a ready-made, step-by-step curriculum.
The curriculum will include lessons for:
Students developing their own product ideas
Students learning to prototype, brand, and market
Students understanding basic business concepts like profit, pricing, and customer service
Students launching their products at a real BizKids Market
This is
not
your typical after-school class -- it's a soft skills powerhouse that builds confidence, creativity, and real-world thinking.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to)
Lead engaging, age-appropriate lessons in entrepreneurship and business
Create a safe, inclusive, and fun learning environment
Support students as they brainstorm, build, and prepare for their market day
Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive atmosphere
Manage administrative tasks such as taking attendance and ensuring students are safely escorted to their parents after class.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to both students and parents as necessary.
Plan the details for the Biz Market day
Meet with the Program Director to provide brief updates on the class
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Comfortable leading a classroom or small group independently
Energetic, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
Strong communication and organizational skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in teaching or working with children, preferably in an educational or school or setting.
Experience running a small business an asset but not required
Valid Background Check (required and will be done by RVEHSA)
This is a part-time freelance contract for teaching a cooking class within an after school program for students in grades 3-6.
Schedule:
Classes will take place weekdays 1-2 days a week
Classes runs December 1- 2025 - March 20, 2026
No classes during winter holidays, March break or other days the school is closed
Timing:
2:30-3:50 pm (teaching time one hour, remaining time escorting children to parents and cleaning up area).
Fee:
Payment of services will be per class and includes the payment for the time required to fulfill the key duties and responsibilities outlined above.
Salary ranges from $60-$95 per class (including light prep time).
Salary depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
