An exciting opportunity exists for an Affordable Housing Customer Coordinator in the Community Planning Business Unit. This position is responsible for coordinating the approvals process to facilitate the timely and cost-effective delivery of affordable housing projects. We are looking forward to speaking with applicants who are not only passionate about serving this need within our community but are equally dedicated to building strong relationships with our external partners and internal approvals team. Primary duties include:


  • Assist Affordable Housing providers in navigating the approvals process to ensure the successful and timely approval of planning applications for affordable housing projects.

  • Provide a single point of contact on behalf of The City as related to affordable housing projects; proactively identify these projects as they enter the system, ensuring they are flagged and adequately resourced with the appropriate sense of urgency.

  • Work with concerned parties to identify challenges or barriers experienced by Affordable Housing providers and implement solutions.

  • Prepare briefings, reports, regular updates and other messaging material for internal and external partners.

  • Attend a variety of external events, committee meetings and other community led initiatives as required to ensure position visibility within the sector and strengthen ongoing relationships with key affordable housing partners.

  • Assist partners as necessary in coordinating community input into the approvals processes as it relates to their provision of affordable housing.





Qualifications

  • A 2-year diploma in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology or related field and at least 6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in areas such as planning, architecture and project coordination, OR;

  • A degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture or related field and at least 4 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in areas such as planning, architecture and project coordination.

  • Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) would be considered an asset.

  • Experience in residential development will be considered an asset.

  • Experience demonstrating the ability to design and implement reviews of business practices and procedures would also be considered assets.

  • Success in this position requires strong leadership and excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to build strategic relationships, project management, business and political acumen with problem solving skills.

Position Type: 1 Permanent & 1 Temporary (up to 18 months)

Location: 800 Macleod Trail SE




Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 - 59.09 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.




Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
