About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Mine Care Advisor to utilize technologies such as Mine Care, Tire Monitoring, Dispatch, and other technical systems to improve the Asset Health capability of our mining equipment in the Operations Centre in Labrador City. It is the vacation relief role with a \'7 day on, 7 day off roster with 12 hour shifts which switch between days and nights.This role is a great opportunity to improve the health of IOC assets by using the technologies in the Operations Centre and work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to prevent failures, equipment damage, minimize downtime, and improve reliability.We are an open, connected, global team that includes some of the industry\'s best and brightest minds. These provide opportunities to grow your career through a dedicated technical path while being rewarded for your unique skills.Reporting to the Superintendent of Asset Health at our Labrador Operations, you will:
  • Ensure the safety of the operation by responding to critical information from communication with the operation or safety systems and take action to prevent safety incidents
  • Assist in safety or accident investigations and ensure recommendations are implemented
  • Respond to maintenance calls from the operation and trigger the appropriate response, whether it be guiding an operator to check for a leak, dispatching a mechanic, or creating a notification in the CMMS system.
  • Monitor information to produce a diagnosis and provide an actionable recommendation in a timely manner. (ie request equipment shutdown when impending failure is predicted)
  • Improve productivity and cost by preventing equipment failure, limiting damage after an event has occurred, helping to diagnose and address equipment health issues
  • Improve the quality of asset health information to enable better decision making and maintenance planning
  • Prepare reports detailing failure events and avoided failures
  • Enhance the utilization of systems such as Mine Care by implementing available functionality
  • Update downtime codes for drills, shovels, auxiliary equipment, and trucks
  • Work closely with operations and maintenance teams with a customer focused approach
  • Provide data from various systems such as Modular Mining Mine Care, SAP, Michelin Tyre Monitoring system, and Modular Mining Dispatch.
  • Work with reliability engineering to improve equipment reliability and action any maintenance strategies involving Mine Care, or similar systems.
  • Work with the Asset Management and planning teams to provide feedback into maintenance priorities & asset health notifications
What you\'ll bring
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with a team, and HSE focus
  • Demonstrated understanding of maintenance, equipment design, and function
  • Proactive attitude and passion for mining or processing equipment and troubleshooting
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office, CMMS (SAP)
  • Flexibility in work assignments as this is the vacation relief role as needed
It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience with Mine Care, MEMS Tire Monitoring and/or Dispatch
  • Experience with control modules such as Cummins Cense or VHMS
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting background
  • Experience with mining equipment
  • Trade certification in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
  • Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Reliability Engineering experience
